QUALITIES OF A HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP

Hey beautiful friends,

I am really sorry for not blogging and not keeping you posted with what’s happening in my life. There’s just so much going on from these past three months that I haven’t been able to take out much time to sit and blog. I know I should be getting better at this but lately I haven’t been very happy. The New Year for us has begun on a bumpy side. At first I lost my grandfather (May his soul rest in peace). I feel terrible about the same and pray only for him to be in a better place. I will always miss his smiling face and will never forget all that I have learnt from him.

Really how life takes twists and turns, these things just get me thinking sometimes. Life is too short! And we must make the most of it. We have to understand that no matter what it brings our way, God will comfort, hold and inspire.

So if your new year 2018 began in a less-than-uplifting way, you’re not alone. Moreover, you’re in good company with many for whom illness, pain, loss, and trouble are mixed in with other, more cheerful blessings.
A bumpy start doesn’t have to mean a bad new year is ahead. It just means that, like last year and the years before them, difficulties and sorrows happen – but so too do many good things.
On that note, let me share a few happy thingswith you guys, we have recently launched a new store branch of our furniture store, Furnstyl and we are really excited to see the overwhelming response for our products. I am so grateful to God for making this happen for us. Now, those of you who are not aware, my husband and I are co-founders of a furniture brand located in Noida, FURNSTYL. We are also an e-store (www.furnstyl.com) which sells furniture and accessories online. We also planned a quick escapade to Goa in first week of March – do check my Instagram to check out pics (@styl_therapy @preruronu). Another good news to share, our Dear friend Shivam got married to Sheetal, his lovely wife. Wishing you all the very best for the new beginning you lovebirds!

So talking about our Goa trip, we thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. It was a very last minute trip planned but we really had great fun. Holi was coming up and we had a long weekend on hand which we knew we had to grab on! When looking through our Goa pics, I was thinking about how lucky I am to have found Ronaq and to spend the rest of my life with him. There’s so much more to a relationship than just being attracted to someone. We started thinking of all of the ‘building blocks’ of our relationship and how we define a healthy relationship.

We are no experts on relationships, but I thought it would be a great idea to share the qualities that we look for in a healthy relationship. Whether you’re single, dating, engaged, or married, I hope you can relate to this post!

  1. Communication:develop a rapport with your significant other, as it will be the bedrock of your relationship.  Communicating openly with one another can help avoid misunderstandings.  Remember, if you’re talking, then you’re not listening.
  2. Trust/Honesty:100% all the time.  There’s no excuse for bending the truth.  You should trust them enough to be fully honest at all times.  Even good intentioned fibs can build over time, depleting trust.
  3. Compromise:you always should be willing to meet them halfway.  When conflict strikes, make sure to *communicate* about the problem openly and *compromise* for a win-win resolution, addressing both concerns.
  4. Accountability:take ownership for everything you say and do in a relationship.  Admit mistakes when you are wrong.
  5. Support:be understanding of each other’s choices and support one in another in them. Encourage one another, personally and professionally. Be each other’s biggest fan.
  6. Respect:this includes all of the above.  Respect leads to trust, which leads to open communication, which leads to more compromise…and so on.

Much Love,

Prerna
