Hey Beautiful Friends!!
Monsoon is here! And I’m really excited!! I love the rains so much!! The rainy season is so lovely and it definitely calls for those romantic long drives (pssst hubby darling!! u get the hint *wink*). Although I’m a fan of the rains but yes it also calls for trouble. The humidity and stickiness in this season can really mess with your skin and hair, if not taken care of. It can make your skin look dull and also expose you to bacterial and fungal infection. So here’s a few monsoon skincare routine tips for you to follow to keep your skin fresh through the season. Pamper your skin with great skincare routines and I Promise…the monsoon won’t takeover you!

Cleansing
Wash your face more frequently at least twice a day. Make sure you do this especially in the evening before going to bed so that you are able to remove all the grime, dirt and sweat. Use a gentle face wash and wash with cold water to keep your skin feeling fresh. Avoid using soapy options and resort to a more mild face wash and homemade face packs. My Holy Grail facewash is the Neutrogena Deep Clean Foaming Cleanser – INR 186/-)

Tone It Up!
Many women skip this very important skincare step of toning their face after washing it. Trust me girlies!! Toning is a very important part of any skincare regime. The day to day exposure to humidity and rains can lead to clogged pores. Our pores need to be hydrated and breathe freely. Using a toner will make sure that it has wiped off any signs of dirt and grime from your face. If have oily skin like I do you can opt for an all-natural skin toner that works great which is the Apple Cider Vinegar. (INR 640)

Moisturize
Just because your skin has become oily during the monsoon season does not mean you don’t need to moisturize. Humidity can lead to dehydration of skin and also makes it very dull. You can switch to using a lightweight moisturizer that offers a matte finish. There are many water based moisturizers available at local drugstores and also online which would be light in weight and avoid that heavy, sticky feeling. My favorite for this season is the Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture Combination Skin – INR 327/-

Drink Lots of Water!

Even though I myself am very bad at following this particular step as part of my routine but I really recommend doing this! In the rainy season we do tend to feel quite hydrated and miss on having ample amount of water. But we must make sure to have lots of water so that all those built up toxins in our body can be washed out.

Don’t skip the sunscreen
You may feel that you don’t need to apply sunscreen since most of the days are cloudy, but the sunrays are so strong even when it’s cloudy that the UV rays can still harm your skin. Thus, make sure to use sunscreen before stepping out of the house. Best sunscreen that suits my skin and I absolutely love this one is the Innisfree Perfect UV Protection Essence Water Base SPF50+ PA+++.

Use minimum makeup
Monsoon can be very harmful for the skin as it may lead to lot of bacterial infection and wearing makeup can just alleviate the infection. Wearing makeup should be the last thing you should consider during this season. Wear a light lip gloss and some powder foundation to avoid infection. I prefer using the NYX Professional Makeup Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation (INR – 720 ) and it works great for the rainy season.

Indulge yourself in homemade face packs
Avoid bleaching and taking facials during this season. Instead try to use more natural ingredients like honey and yogurt to make homemade face packs for an ultimate glowing and healthy looking skin. You can also use mud packs like Multani Mitti (Fuller’s Earth) with a teaspoon of rosewater and it works wonders for your skin. Another great natural ingredient for the skin that can be used throughout the year is Besan (Gram Flour). It’s a very quick and easy homemade face pack to pamper your skin. Take Two spoons of besan with some milk and turmeric. Mix together and Voila! Your homemade face pack is ready! This will not only soothe your skin and add that glow it will also make your skin very soft and supple.
