How are you doing?
I am usually the kind of person who believes in following daily routines. Especially my morning routine which is a very important part of my well-being.
My morning ritual usually starts with me hitting ‘snooze’ a couple of times followed by ten minutes scrolling through Instagram before I finally get out of my bed over to the kitchen and pour myself a glass full of water with some apple cider vinegar and sip through it. I have been following this ritual since quite some time now (almost 2 years) and have definitely noticed the benefits it has provided me which is why I decided to share this post with you guys.
Apple Cider Vinegar is clearly among the healthiest things you can drink to support your body and improve your overall health and longevity. The Apple Cider Vinegar trend has recently become very popular due to its numerous health benefits but it has been well-known for centuries. The most popular brand of Apple Cider Vinegar aka ACV is Braggs – with the mother. (This is what I use).
Organic unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar with the mother by Braggs is the recommended form of vinegar to be consumed. “Mother” strands of proteins, enzymes and friendly bacteria is the main ingredient responsible for most of the health benefits.
What is Apple Cider Vinegar?
Apple Cider Vinegar is an acidic, sour-tasting liquid made from fermented apples. Apple Cider Vinegar is made in two steps:
- The first step is when crushed apples, water, and yeast sit at room temperature for at least 30 days. During this time, the yeast ferments the sugars from the apples into alcohol.
- The second step is when bacteria are added to the alcohol solution, which further ferment the alcohol and turn it into acetic acid – the main active compound in vinegar.
Apple Cider Vinegar like apple juice also contains some pectin; Vitamins B1, B2 and B6, biotin, folic acid, niacin and Vitamin C. It also contains small amounts of minerals like sodium, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, iron and magnesium.
How to use Apple Cider Vinegar
Before you start consuming Apple Cider Vinegar, there are a few safety tips you must know.
The safest way to consume apple cider vinegar is to use it in small quantities in food and dressings.
Apple Cider Vinegar like other types of vinegar, is like acid to your body. If consuming directly, don’t drink it straight up! Instead, you should dilute it. Just add one tablespoon (at most 2) of vinegar to a glass of water. Diluting the ACV with water will be gentler on your throat and teeth.
Some foods can cancel out the vinegar’s effect and others may expand it. To be safe and to reap maximum benefits, drink ACV on an empty stomach. It’s a great way to kick start your day and boost your metabolism. But probably not the best as a bedtime drink.
Also, the acid in the ACV can erode your teeth enamel, so make sure you don’t consume it in large quantities and to protect your teeth, consider drinking with a straw. And wait at least half an hour before brushing your teeth afterward.
Now that you know how Apple Cider Vinegar must be consumed as a health drink, here are some amazing things that will happen if you drink apple cider vinegar regularly.
1 . Regulates Blood Sugar Levels and Prevent Diabetes..
High blood sugar levels can lead to a number of health problems. The ability of Apple Cider Vinegar to help maintain normal blood sugar is one of the most well-studied benefits of apple cider vinegar. The acetic acid in vinegar appears to block enzymes that help you digest starch, resulting in a healthy blood sugar level which is great for Type 2 Diabetes.
To incorporate apple cider vinegar in your diet you can either consume its diluted form in the morning on an empty stomach or try adding it to your salads or marinades.
2 . Aids weight loss and reduces belly fat.
Apple Cider Vinegar has recently gained popularity with its increased use by fitness gurus and health experts. It is also considered as a dieting miracle.
The acetic acid in vinegar works against enzymes in your stomach that digest starch which eventually stops you from absorbing calories from the carbs you consume which helps in weight loss. Apple Cider Vinegar also makes you feel fuller and satisfies your hunger cravings which can help you in consuming 200 to 275 fewer calories per day.
However, apple cider vinegar alone would not do the trick. The most effective way of losing weight is eating healthy and regular exercise. If all combined together it can help in better results.
3. Relieves acid reflux and heartburn.
Acid reflux is often a result of having low levels of stomach acid. Drinking apple cider vinegar may help in providing relief from acid reflux symptoms by introducing more acid into the digestive tract and prevent acid backflow.
4. Helps in Detoxification
Apple Cider Vinegar works to detoxify the liver for overall health and bodily functions. It helps in balancing pH Levels in our body, encourages lymphatic drainage and enhance blood circulation. It also helps in curing problems like constipation and improve digestion.
5. Improves Skin Health
Apple Cider Vinegar improves your internal health in many ways like digestion and detoxification which in turn results in healthier looking skin. Apart from consuming ACV it can also be used topically for treating acne and acne scars. Using ACV as a toner and in healing masks are some effective ways for acne.
But remember, ACV is very acidic in nature. The acid can also irritate your skin. Especially if you have burns or lesions. Sure, apple cider vinegar is antibacterial. But make sure you do a patch test before using it for your acne breakout. Or for cleaning wounds. The vinegar might just make things worse.
6. Fresher Breath and Whitens Teeth
Apple Cider Vinegar due to its great anti-bacterial properties is very handy in killing bacteria and viruses. Bad breath is also caused by bacteria. Swishing around some apple cider vinegar in your mouth can kill those microorganisms.
Apple Cider Vinegar can even brighten up your smile and help in whitening of your teeth naturally. For best results, try brushing your teeth with a bit of ACV and rinsing your mouth with water. Keep in mind, that overdoing this can actually erode your enamel, so use a moderate amount and avoid overdoing it.
This will protect your teeth while still giving you the benefits.

- Apple Cider Vinegar has many health benefits that include aiding weight loss, dropping blood pressure and cholesterol levels, stabilizing blood sugar levels, enhancing skin health and relieving acid reflux symptoms.
