Tips for choosing your perfect sofa

Looking for choosing your perfect sofa for your home? You might think that you know exactly what you want but once you end up going to a furniture shop or browse online, with the infinite options available you tend to get confused. Keep these few things in mind and I’m sure shopping for sofas would never have to be overwhelming.

First and foremost, you need to decide which type of sofa do you want? Do you want a sink-in feel or a more supportive feel? This will help you decide the type of sofa comfort and cushions designs you should go for.

You also need to determine the use of the sofa. Is it a family room sofa that will be used for lounging or a more occasional seating area that would not be used on a very frequent basis? This will help you anticipate the depth of the sofa.

If it’s a family room sofa it’s more likely that you would want a deeper sofa where you can lounge in for hours watching Netflix. The standard depth for sofas is 34 to 36 inches. But if it’s for occasional seating you may want to go for a more formal setting with supportive back and lesser depth. 30 to 32 inches depth is perfect for that!

If you are one of those where most family members are particularly tall, opt for a deeper version of sofa. We typically suggest a standard depth of 38 to 40 inches. Trust me! You will thank me for this for sure!

“My entire family loves the Houston Sectional Sofa. The seat is supportive and the back has a sink-in comfort and feel to it, so you get the best of both worlds.” — Clients speak

You need to determine the size of your room where the sofa needs to be placed. How much space of the room you want the sofa to fill. Do you want to include a couch or chairs along with it or maybe place a coffee table? A simple 3+2 Sofa setting would be ideal or an L-Shaped will be best fit for you.

Measuring your space before making your final sofa decision will help ensure it’s the right fit. For smaller spaces, we suggest a standard width of 75 inches or less for Three Seater sofa, and 60 inches or less for Two Seater Sofa. For larger spaces, we suggest a standard width of 84 inches or less for Three Seater sofa, and 65 inches or less for Two Seater Sofa.

“I live in an apartment and wanted a sofa that wouldn’t take up too much space so New Yorker Sectional Sofa was a perfect fit. It’s so comfortable with its plush cushions, large enough to stretch out for a nap. It has a stylish design and also looks very trendy.” — Clients speak

Knowing your personal style is a very important consideration while making your sofa buying decision. The sofa you choose should be a reflection of your personality and lifestyle. Whether your taste is for modern eclectic designs and bright colors or a classic traditional design, a sofa with tufting or a classic upholstered look.

Buying a sofa that perfectly suits your personal style and taste is also dependent on the color you will choose for your piece. I personally would suggest more neutral fabrics like an oatmeal or charcoal gray. You can always accessorize your sofa with colorful cushions and throw pillows.

If your more fun loving a nd playful, you can go bolder with the fabric choice like a teal blue color or red. You can also go with fun patterns or digital prints.

At last, a very important consideration while placing your sofa order is checking the delivery process of bringing the new sofa into your home. Be sure that your perfect new sofa is going to be able to fit through your home’s entryway. Measure every inch and corner of your entryway and obviously the door. You don’t want your brand new purchase reach till your building and not being able to fit the lift or the staircase or gives you a tough time to get it passed through your entrance door. So even if you have to measure twice…Do that!! To save yourself from all the worries and headaches.

Hope you guys found this information useful and this will help you narrow down your sofa options and pick the one that best suits your personal style, comfort and taste. I would love to see if you have been able to decide on your sofa and how it looks in your beautiful homes. Please do share pics in the comments below.

Happy Shopping!!

Hey would you mind stating which blog platform you’re working with? I’m looking to start my own blog soon but I’m having a hard time making a decision between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something completely unique. P.S Sorry for getting off-topic but I had to ask!

I have been browsing online more than 2 hours today, yet I never found any
interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough
for me. In my view, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did,
the net will be much more useful than ever before.

I think everything said was actually very logical.
However, what about this? what if you were to create
a killer post title? I mean, I don’t want to tell you how to
run your blog, but suppose you added a headline that makes
people desire more? I mean Tips for choosing your perfect
sofa online @ Styltherapy is a little vanilla. You ought to look at Yahoo’s front page and see how they
create article titles to get viewers to click. You might add
a video or a related pic or two to get people interested about everything’ve got to say.
Just my opinion, it might make your blog a little bit more interesting.

Hi there, i read your blog occasionally and i own a similar one and
i was just curious if you get a lot of spam remarks?
If so how do you prevent it, any plugin or anything you can suggest?

I get so much lately it’s driving me insane so any
    support is very much appreciated.

      Hey Rosa,
I do face a similar issue but I’m also curious to know how to deal with this. What has been working for me so far is working on the SEO and Readability of the blog and also I keep filtering out the spam comments received on a regular basis. Lately I’m getting a lot lesser spams.
I will keep you posted if I do get to know about a plugin or something.
      Thanks 😀
